In fact, there are tricks to unraveling a knotted necklace!

Today, we will teach you some quick ways to unravel the necklace. We recommend collecting!

Before untying a necklace, try to find a flat workbench that supports the weight. Place the necklace on it before starting.

Do not attach the necklace to the eye hanging in order to solve.

This is because the weight of the chain is opposite to the force of the hand, which tightens the original knot tighter.

Caution! If you find that the necklace is knotted when the clasp is fastened, do not open the clasp before untangling the messy knot. This will easily lead to the creation of new knots in the process of removing the knot. And the more you untie it, the messier it will become.

1. Rub by hand:

For thicker and less knotty single necklaces, the easiest and convenient way is to use your hands to rub gently.

Spread a towel or cloth on a flat table and secure it so it doesn’t move. Then lay the necklace flat on it, move the unnotted part of the chain away from the wrong place (that knot), and then gently rub the knotted part to loosen it by friction, and then slowly detach it with your fingers when you see a large gap between the chains.

2. Use sharp tools such as needles or toothpicks:

When there are many necklaces knotted together, or in a necklace of the same part of the continuous knot a lot of knots, simple hand rubbing is very difficult to unravel.

But there’s no need to panic, it can be undone quickly with the help of a few small tools.

Facing the light, lay the necklace on a flat surface and smooth the unknotted part of the chain away from the messy knot. Then take out a sewing needle, pins, tweezers and other sharp tools.

If you do not have any of these, a toothpick can also be an effective solution. Poke the needle or sharp object into the center of the knot (if using two needles, poke both in at the same time).

Then gently pick up any chain section with the needle, opening a gap in the knot. Repeat this step, pulling the chain on the messy knot in different directions, slowly breaking up the knot.

Make gaps between each chain, presenting a flat surface similar to a fishing net, so that you can see the tangled knots more clearly. Then slowly untangle them from the outer edge of the net inwards. When using this method, care needs to be taken to move gently and slowly.

Do not insert the needle into the ring of the necklace (such as a 0-shaped chain) to lend strength and pull hard, to avoid breaking or deforming some thinner chains.

3. Use lubricating products:

If the necklace is tied a lot of knots or is very tight, rubbing it directly with a sharp tool cannot make it loose.

To assist lubrication, you can use detergent, talcum powder, baby oil and other non-irritating daily chemical products.

①Use detergent

To use detergent, choose a container with a large opening and fill it with a small amount of water and detergent. Then dip the knotted part of the chain into it and place it at the bottom. Then gently rub the knotted part with your fingers.

Slowly untangle the messy knot in the water, or use a needle to assist. Once untangled, rinse the chain thoroughly and dry it.

②Use talcum powder

If you find it difficult to maneuver in the water, you can choose to use talcum powder for lubrication.

Place the necklace on a flat surface and sprinkle the talcum powder directly onto the knotted area. Rub it with your fingers to loosen it, and then slowly unravel the messy knot.

If it’s more complicated or multiple necklaces are tangled together, you can double up by using a sharp object such as a needle.

After detangling the tangled necklace, remember to wash down the talcum powder-stained part of the chain with mild detergent and dry it off.

③Use baby oil

For some complicated necklaces, the talcum powder will be stuck in the gap between the rings and clasps, which is difficult to clean. Here, you can choose baby oil or olive oil.

Place the necklace on a flat surface and use a cotton swab or your finger to apply some oil that is not harmful to the metal to the knotted area and gently massage it.

Until the messy knot loosens, find a chain that is the loosest and slowly unwind it.

After the knotted part is completely untied, wash off the oil on the necklace with detergent as soon as possible, then rinse it with water and dry it with a paper towel or soft cloth.

4. Vibration assistance:

Some of you have said that I can’t get a good grasp of how hard to knead. Knot kneaded open a bit after wanting to knead it looser, but then tighter.

At this point, you can use external force to “shake” the messy knot.

Put the knotted part of the necklace into a container and place it on the lid of the washing machine in spin mode. Use the washing machine vibration to loosen the knots, and then slowly detangle them.

Alternatively, place the knotted part in a contact lens cleaning case. Use the slight vibration of the cleaning mode to loosen the knots.

Then use sharp tools such as needles and tweezers to dismantle it directly inside the case.

Using this method, but if it is set with gemstone necklaces, try not to let the gemstone parts vibrate, to not cause dislodgement.

5. Seek professional help:

If you use the above methods, you still cannot unravel the necklace. It is recommended that you do not spend time fighting with it.

Make a trip to the nearest jewelry store or courier to the jeweler you often patronize, and spend a little money (or don’t spend much).

So that the professionals use experience and skillful techniques to help you unravel. By the way, you can also give the necklace to do a professional cleaning.

Most necklaces become knotted due to improper storage. To avoid losing time dealing with knots, and to avoid damaging your necklace due to multiple knots, the following ways of storing your necklace are recommended:

Storage method:

① Separate

When you buy a necklace, you will usually have a separate jewelry box or bag. You can fasten the necklace when storing it.

Snap the necklace into the special indentation in the box or leave a part of it outside the bag.

This type of storage not only secures the necklace to avoid knots, but also prevents the necklaces from rubbing against each other.

② Separate by hanging

Place your necklaces in a jewelry box or on a hook where they can be hung.

Be sure to keep the necklaces at a distance from each other so that they don’t get tangled up.

③ Separate and lay flat

If you can’t hang your necklaces, smooth them out and place them flat in an organizer or drawer with a divided space.

But be careful not to tilt the organizer or push or pull the drawer quickly. This will prevent the necklaces from bunching up and getting tangled.

④ Straw method

If you can’t use the above methods in a short period of time, we suggest that you order a cup of milk tea or other beverage, and remember to ask for a straw.

Open the necklace clasp, put one end through the straw and then close it. This will act as a chain separator.

Be careful to use a separate straw for each necklace, not several necklaces on the same straw.

If you have knotted necklaces, you can now try to untie them as described in the article, and remember to do a good job of organizing them~!
